Sicily Star Restaurants

I believe the best way to eat like a Sicilian is to eat in a Sicilian family, tasting the food prepared by a "mamma". However, I am keen to discover and share with you what the high-end world of cuisine thinks of Sicilian restaurants and how local chefs have been able to market themselves to the international world of food. I looked up the Michelin Star Restaurant Guide. I was struck by the number of restaurants that achieved one or two starts Michelin in Sicily and most importantly by their location.

12 restaurant made it to the Michelin ranking; of these 8 are in Estern Sicily; 5 in the area around Ragusa. Almost 50% of the restauants considered as excellent by the world standard of Michelin Guide in Sicily are within 1h driving from Ragusa (four happen to be in the province of Ragusa)! 75% of two star Michelin restaurants are either in Ragusa or withing 1.5h driving from it. This should give you a hint where to stay if you are looking to have a luxurious food experience in Sicily.

Below the list:
