Sicily Boutique Hotels & More

Clearly chez #AndreinaeVito! However, we understand that you might want to discover other parts of Sicily and we are very happy to suggest several places that we tried and we would certainly recommend. This list will be integrated with new discoveries as we experience more and we get feedback from our guests. We don't get any type of "incentive" from the below listed hotels. This is only to the benefit of our readers. How have we selected these hotels? By trying them ourselves or hearing good things from our guests who travelled Sicily.

Monaci delle Terre Nere (Zafferana)

Probably one of my favourite hotels in Sicily. Well positioned on Etna, I love this hotel for its design and most importantly its diversified offer of services that show a great commitment to organic and local products. A must try!

Casa Talia (Ragusa)

Lovely hotel in Ragusa. I strongly recommend to stay in Ragusa and visit the south of East Sicily. This is amongst my favourite parts of the island for both beaches and quality of food. At nights lights go on and the village looks like a nativity from Casa Talia.

Castello Camemi (Vizzini)

The owner has done a fantastic job renovating an old "baglio", an old country house. The atmosphere inside the hotel is cosy and the interiors have been designed with great attention to Sicilian traditions. We recommend to stop by if interested to visit the Sicilian countryside. This is definitely off-the-beaten-path for tourists.

Zash (Riposto)

If you want to visit Taormina and be close to Catania and Etna without the buzz of city life stay at Zash. I particularly like the design of this boutique hotel and the opportunity to be so close to Taormina without seeing all the tourists!

Don Giovanni (Sambuca)

The design of the hotel could do with a revamp but the rooms are clean and most importantly the view is breathtaking. This hotel is located in the middle of vineyards and olive fields. Spend a morning on the pool overlooking the fields before you go enjoy the wine produced in the area.

Alla Giudecca (Siracusa)

I believe that Ortigia in Siracusa is probably one of the most charming places to visit while in Sicily. The duomo is magnificent, the food delicious and the boutiques in the village very nice to do some shopping. Alla Giudecca has the right location and atmosphere to enjoy the deep history of this city.

I love the Eolie Islands and I would suggest to spend at least a week there if you have the time. My favourite islands are Salina, Panare and Stromboli. In Salina you can enjoy beautiful beaches, good restaurants and nice shops. In Panarea you can bath in the posh feeling of a small Mediterranean island (spend one night). In Strombli spend at least one night to climb the volcano (I normally spend at least two).

Capofaro Malvasia (Salina)

I love Salina for its beaches and good restaurants. Stay at Capofaro to immerse yourself in a vineyeard on a beautiful cliff. The interior design is great and the pool very comfortable. The service is high quality. Only minus is the lack of access to the sea (it's an island right!?). You can rent a scooter or car and visit the nearby beaches. While in Salina, relax in the Hotel Signum SPA

Cincotta (Panarea)

This is part of our family best memories. We use to spend a few weeks every summer when we were kids at the Cincotta. The design still dates back from that "age", but I love the feeling plus it is got a swimming pool that can help when you are fed up with the only one beach in Panarea. Try the granita in the morning.

Casa del Sole (Stromboli)

I personally love to stay at Casa del Sole every time I go to Stromboli to climb the volcano. The owner is really kind and the atmosphere totally relaxed. Don't expect grand lux but a very warm welcome and a nice clean design (this hostel is in typical eolian architecture). The hostel is located only minutes away from a beautiful black sand beach.

Places I still have to check out...

Castello Falconara (Butera)

If you decide to make your way south, you will find one of the less known parts of Sicily. Land in Catania and make your way to Calatagirne before you get to Butera; or if you have more time stop by Siracusa, Noto and Scicli on your way around the south tip of the "triangle". I believe that the road between Ragusa and Trapani passing by the south cost of Sicily is probably one of the least touristic areas, still it hides beautiful places. The beaches are beautiful and you will find several cultural and "food" stops on your way.

Massaria Susafa (Polizzi Generosa)

Wanna be in the middle of the countryside with the option to go left, right, up and down to all corners of Sicily? This seems to be a good option.

Places I definitely recommend for an "aperitivo" or a nice drink with view...

Ostello degli Elefanti (Catania)

Climb to the terrace and enjoy a beautiful view of the main road in Catania with the dome of the cathedral and Etna in the background.

Grand Hotel Timeo (Taormina)

After you visit the teatro greco in Taoermina, take your time to sip a negroni from the beautiful terrace of the Timeo. A very atmospheric place with a great view of Etna from the north side, and if you are lucky you will spot a stream of lava flowing down the summit!

Enjoy and let us know you opinion!
